Curiosity and Growth

Blog Series

This NEW blog series, Turn your Values into Verbs will be a review of my top 10 values and how I am using them in my business as I begin a new service of coaching in 2023.  This is where my new offerings will begin to shine really well and what I learned was that so many women need support in mindset, motivation, and want to find calm, but struggle with the endless opportunities.

This NEW blog series, Turn your Values into Verbs I will review of my top 10 values and how I am using them in my business as I begin a new service of coaching in 2023. This year what I learned about myself was the kind of clients I serve really well, and that is someone with a team, but what I kept discovering is that the people who were finding me didn’t have a team, they were individuals who wanted to build something amazing to support their existing business. Or they want to start a new business with a community-led approach. This is where my new offerings will begin to shine really well and what I learned was that so many people need support in mindset, motivation, and want to find calm, but struggle with the endless opportunities.

In my life, values are the way I want to feel, experience, and express myself. I see them as a way to guide me into making decisions about clients, services, and also a way to remind myself of what it is I stand for or believe in. So I want to have these on my website, on my landing pages, and on my services pages. They are going to help guide me in the direction of my business.

Curiosity

Curiosity 2

As a kid, I was always pretty curious about life. That hasn’t changed for me, being a business owner and coach. I give myself the ability to see the world as a place to explore and to live in alignment with the curiosity I have for others, myself, and the world around me in practice, letting go of perfection. That last piece has been the most challenging aspect for me to work with over the past few years, this idea of “perfection” that I’d thought I didn’t struggle with, but I do. The thing I’ve learned is that being “curious” about things means that there isn’t a direct “right or wrong” way of doing things.

The traditional culture has taught me to think of things as black and white, right or wrong, good or bad.  Now I realize that there’s a whole world of color to consider. How I use curiosity in my daily life is to let go of the “judging mind” when it comes in and tries to get me to pick a “right or wrong” way and instead, look at things as an experiment. The first time I heard this was through a friend, Jason Robinson, founder of The Nomad Experiment, who writes a blog about his adventures, experiences, and life’s lessons.

When I recalled back to my experiences, I could reframe my life is a series of experiments that I learn from, and being curious about my thoughts, feelings, and emotions has been really helpful in the past few months leading up to writing the Creator to Community Builder BookHow I use curiosity with clients looks different depending on the client, but I try to incorporate a curious and playful attitude. By asking a lot of questions, I start with a better understanding of the individual client, and then we can together, become curious about their goals, mission, and vision for their business, community, or personal life.

Growth 1

As I lifelong learner, I’m drawn to expanding my understanding and awareness of people across the globe, learning new skills, and building new relationships. I believe that each human on earth has a need to feel fulfilled and purpose-driven and that a person’s willingness to open to growth in regards to their own understanding of the world around them opens up a whole new set of possibilities.

There’s a quote by Carol Dweck, the Author of Mindset: The New Psychology Of Success that I really like. “True self-confidence is “the courage to be open—to welcome change and new ideas regardless of their source.” Real self-confidence is not reflected in a title, an expensive suit, a fancy car, or a series of acquisitions. It is reflected in your mindset: your readiness to grow.”

She explains “In a growth mindset, challenges are exciting rather than threatening. So rather than thinking, I’m going to reveal my weakness, you say – Wow, here’s a chance to grow.” This is the key importance in how I work best with clients when we can take challenges and see them as growth opportunities. Anytime I see a potential problem or the client experiences a challenging moment, we have an opportunity to learn from that experience. It is then that compassion, kindness, and curiosity come into play when working with challenges and navigating around, past, or over them. When leading the Find Calm Here Community, I offered a “Growth Seat” during the 90-day Masterminds I’d been hosting. This gave each member an opportunity to share their community launch or relaunch plan with a group of peers to get honest and helpful feedback to help them GROW!
