Move past Impostor Syndrome
By Discovering Your Superpowers

Superpower 1 2

My journey from writing the book Creator to Community Builder has been a struggle the entire time, and as I sit here to write on a chilly November morning, I realize that impostor syndrome doesn’t serve you or me. (It’s what’s been holding me back from writing the book I want YOU to read!)

I’ll share with you how I’ve been working to get past it and how you can, too!

A client contacted me at the beginning of 2022 to discuss the possibilities for her online community. As our relationship grew, she encouraged me to step into my strengths by taking assessments to understand my preferred skills and values better and align that with the clients I enjoy working with and doing work where I shine versus doing work that drains me.

I’ve never really spent time understanding my strengths, and this new program my client shared helped me better understand my strengths, values, and skills.

Some quick statistics on strengths from Clifton Strengths

Only 1 in 33 million people share the same five strengths.

Using strengths decreases stress and increases quality and productivity.

Strengths help build engagement in work and life environments.

People who use their strengths are 3x more likely to have a good quality of life.

People who use their strengths are 6x more engaged at work.

Working with my coach, we did a deep dive into my strengths, values, skills, and interests to understand better what will bring me joy and calm in this next phase of my life after quitting my corporate job and spending the past two years developing my new consulting business.

I’ll share each strength and the description that YouMap® provides in the report and how I have implemented them into my business, life, and personal development. In a white paper by Edward “Chip,” Anderson, Ph…, shares, “The genius of our talents reflects what those talents enable and empower us to do and help us reach our potential levels of excellence.”

Before I jump in, one note of clarification: Clifton Strengths uses the wording “lead with” when describing the “top 5,” but YouMap® uses a car analogy to describe the strengths with the terms “driver, passengers, and fuel.”

The trick here is to avoid getting stuck on the words being used but to identify how you experience your strengths, and it’s up to you to decide on how to lead or drive the vehicle (You!)

In the following article, I’ll break down my strengths and how I’m using them in my life and business to live in alignment with goals, vision, and purpose.

My client (now coach) had me complete a Gallup Top 5 Clifton Strengths assessment, which walks through 177 statements that I can review and select the ones that most resonate with me and best describe me. The hour-long test is then provided to me instantly with a personalized “Strengths Insight Guide” report of my Top 5 Strengths.
