Turn your values into Verbs: Building a business based on your values
Turn Values into Verbs

Learning more about myself has helped me push past impostor syndrome and step into the power I have to choose. I can write a book about being a creator and becoming a community builder because that’s who I can identify as.

In the recent Blog Series, Move Past Impostor Syndrome by Discovering your SuperpowerI share the foundations of the YouMap® program, which starts with understanding strengths. In that series, I shared my 5 Top Strengths, and I walk you through how I interpreted the strengths within my past experiences and in my current business.

As a consultant, finding new clients who want to build a community has been challenging. There’s a lot of overwhelming about the process, so I’m writing a book called Creator to Community Builder. When I spoke to a client earlier this year, she helped me navigate my strengths, values, and skills through her coaching program. After we finished working together, she asked me if I’d be interested in joining the next group of new coaches getting certified, and I said yes! Since the spring, I’ve been thinking about how to align my business, Find Calm Here LLC, with my values, vision, and mission. I continue to do as I write, talk, and convene with others around this topic.

This year, what I learned about myself was the kind of clients I serve well, and that is someone with a team, but what I kept discovering is that the people who were finding me didn’t have a team; they were individuals who wanted to build something unique to support their existing business. Or they want to start a new business with a community-led approach. This is where my new offerings will begin to shine well, and what I learned was that so many people need support in mindset and motivation and want to find calm but struggle with endless opportunities.

In my life, values are the way I want to feel, experience, and express myself. They are a way to guide me in making decisions about clients and services and also a way to remind myself of what I stand for or believe in. I want these on my website, landing pages, and services pages. They are going to help guide me in the direction of my business. Your values will change over time, so things you value in your career may not be as important now for you if you focus on retirement or shifting to a freelancer or “gig” worker to offer a better life/work balance.
