Get ready to jump into a NEW episode of The Community Strategy Podcast! Hosted by Deb Schel, she interviews Tracy Beavers, a six-figure entrepreneur, and an online community builder.

Get the tips to grow your community organically and launch a group that turns into income!

Tracy hosts a free Facebook group, BE A CONFIDENT ENTREPRENEUR: Get Visible + Grow Your Email List & Income, with over 2.7K members!

Over twenty years, Tracy has run several six-figure businesses, working with entrepreneurs to help them overcome their fear of selling and grow their businesses.

During this interview, Tracy shares her ride on the entrepreneurial roller coaster and her strategies to gain online visibility, grow an audience, and build an email list without paid ads.

“What made me successful in sales is building relationships, and it’s the same with community – creating human-to-human relationships,” Tracy said.

She quit her 9-5 and started building in the online space. She noticed right away that working from home can be lonely. When she first started, she joined a few Facebook groups to meet fellow entrepreneurs, but she didn’t find every group valuable.

Coming out of sales, Tracy had an extensive network and started working with peers who already knew she was a great business coach. Tracy decided to start a free Facebook group to be of service and offer members fantastic experiences.

Tracy’s favorite community was a small mastermind that helped her realize that network marketing wasn’t for her and that she most enjoys helping people with their businesses, so she became a business coach. “Sometimes we are so ‘in it’ that we can’t see how to improve our own business,” Tracy said.

Tracy considered Facebook an essential community platform primarily because she knew that platform. Her community experience was easy because she didn’t have to figure out the tech; it was “the low-hanging fruit.”

When Tracy first launched her Facebook group, her biggest goal was to become more visible. After setting up the group, she invited members from her list to join the free group. In addition, she mentioned the community when networking and posted about it on social media.

Although organically growing the Facebook group was challenging, she persevered and now sees about 100 new members monthly. She credits this success to her community strategy, which includes a form before members enter to validate that they are a good fit for the group.

She said that this group has become her most significant source of income. It was slow initially, but she has grown her business and group by sticking with it, providing value, and building relationships. When she started the group while working a full-time job, she knew she could commit to three community activities.

She shares a win, gives live training, and supports group members. Her strategy depends on the situation, and she said that she tailors the live training by telling them “what” and “why.” The “how” is something she might offer as a service.

It is an “easy yes” for most individuals who Tracy invites to the group, and it isn’t spammy because she only invites people she feels will bring value to the group. Word of mouth is the fastest way to grow your group!

Identifying the members’ needs is the basis for the group’s content. As the business grew, she could dedicate more time and gain more focus. She later hired an assistant to help with content and moderation.

Using AI, Tracy uses her live training and turns it into social media posts and a blog. She also invites to the free training to her email list. She suggests creating a 90-day content calendar with focus topics for each live training.

You can only commit to what you can do. Tracy says consistency is more important than being who you are and sharing authentically. That will take you farther.
